How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

HEAD OF COMPLIANCE (FTC – 6 MONTHS)

Edinburgh, hybrid, 3 days a week in the office

We are supporting a growing, highly regarded independent UK private bank with a distinctive relationship-led model, focused on lasting, highly personalized relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families and their businesses.

Compliance plays a critical role in balancing commercial flexibility with robust governance and regulatory oversight.

This is a six-month fixed-term opportunity to step into a well-established function, providing leadership through a period of continued growth, leadership evolution and increasing regulatory expectation.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will lead a small second line Compliance team, taking ownership of the Bank’s compliance framework while acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining strategic oversight with operational delivery.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Leading and developing the Compliance function, ensuring it operates effectively as an independent second line

    • Maintaining and enhancing the Bank’s compliance framework, policies and procedures

    • Providing pragmatic, commercially aware advice and constructive challenge to the business

    • Overseeing compliance monitoring, testing and regulatory reporting

    • Supporting senior leadership and Risk Committees with clear, insightful MI and recommendations

    • Acting as a key point of contact for regulators and external stakeholders

You will be an experienced senior compliance leader with a strong background in compliance within a relationship-led environment. Private banking experience would be beneficial.

    You will bring:

    • Deep expertise in UK regulatory frameworks and compliance risk management

    • Proven experience leading second line Compliance teams

    • Strong knowledge of compliance monitoring frameworks and regulatory engagement

    • The ability to balance commerciality with effective challenge

    • Credibility and gravitas with senior stakeholders and front office teams

    • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach aligned to a client-centric business model

If you’re an experienced Head of Compliance or senior compliance leader available for a contract assignment and interested in a high-impact role within a growing private bank, I’d be keen to speak.
