Job Opportunity! – Interim Capital Accountant – 12 Months (Part time or Full Time Hours)
A local authority client of mine are currently on the lookout for a Capital Accountant to join their team on an interim basis.
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Rate: DOE
IR35: Inside.
Hybrid: X1-2 days per week is the preference (can be more flexible for the right candidate, fully remote could possibly also be considered depending on candidates locations).
Days: 3-5 Days per week (can be part time or full time hours).
Start Date: ASAP
Main duties:
- This will purely be a hands on technical role, rather than having any managerial responsibilities.
- Everything Capital Accounting related:
- Manage and monitor the capital programme, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
- Prepare capital accounting entries for year‑end, including asset additions, disposals and revaluations.
- Ensure compliance with the CIPFA Code and advise services on correct capital vs revenue treatment.
- Produce clear capital monitoring reports and analysis for senior managers and committees.
Successful candidates:
- Must be a fully qualified accountant.
- Must have a current grasp of the accounting code of practice.
- Must have specific local authority experience working as a capital accountant.
- Must have technical accounting experience, capital closedown and fixed asset register.
