We are currently seeking a Development Experience (DX) Planner to join a fast-paced operational environment, based at our client’s office in Hatfield Business Park.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating all resources, plant, permits, machinery, traffic management, and customer communications, as directed by our client, Affinity Water, across the Central DX Workstream at M&S Water.
This role is ideally suited to someone looking for an exciting challenge within a varied and dynamic environment. You will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a calm and composed approach to managing challenging situations. The ability to use your initiative and work effectively as part of a collaborative team is essential.
You must have strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. A keen eye for detail, a proactive “can-do” attitude, and the ability to prioritise workloads while working to tight deadlines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are key requirements for this role.
Collaboration across departments and with our client is critical to success at M&S Water, therefore being a flexible and supportive team player is essential. Training will be provided on internal systems; however, a good level of IT literacy is required.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
- Assess and interpret the requirements of each job issued by the client.
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of live works for both connections and mains activities, including:
- Booking plant, machinery, materials, permits, and traffic management
- Managing works from excavation through to reinstatement
- Incorporating pressure testing, sampling, and chlorination where required
- Provide clear and timely communication with clients and customers, including:
- Attending regular client meetings
- Responding to enquiries and providing updates
- Use company and client work management systems to plan works, maintain accurate records, and communicate updates.
- Liaise with Supervisors to re-plan work or reallocate resources as required throughout the day.
- Review, update, and action changes to the Daily Whereabouts, maintaining awareness of past, current, and upcoming works.
- Ensure job packs are completed and distributed to operational teams where required.
- Maintain and update all relevant work management systems (WMS).
- Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture.
- Report any near misses identified during the working day.
- Liaise with clients and customers to agree and, where necessary, reschedule work dates.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Previous planning experience
- IT literate, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Excel)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Flexible, reliable, and a strong team player
- Proactive “can-do” attitude
Desirable:
- Experience within the utilities sector
- Knowledge of Water UK and Ofwat legislation
