Head of Professional Services - Tech Consulting & Services
Location: London / Hybrid
Reports to: COO / Board of Directors
Our client is a growing IT consulting/services business helping enterprise organisations adopt cloud, modernise their platforms, and improve how they build and ship software.
Their work sits across Cloud adoption, Cloud migration, Data/AI, DevOps, and modern software engineering — typically in complex, high-impact environments.
They are still early in their journey. That means:
- Not everything is fully built yet
- There’s huge opportunity to shape how they operate
- The right person will have a direct impact on how they scale
The Role
We’re hiring a Head of Professional Services to take ownership of how we deliver work to clients and help us scale that into a repeatable, high-quality, and profitable function.
This is not a “run what exists” role. It’s a build, fix, and lead role.
You’ll sit at the centre of the business, working across:
- Delivery
- Pre-sales
- Clients
- Hiring
- Commercials
You’ll need to be as comfortable in a client steering meeting as you are reviewing a project plan, shaping a proposal, or coaching a delivery lead.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Owning Delivery (End-to-End)
- Make sure everything we deliver lands well — on time, on budget, and to a high standard
- Bring structure where needed (without over-engineering it)
- Step into tricky projects and get them back on track
- Define “what good looks like” for delivery in our business
Shaping Work (Pre-Sales, Scoping, Pricing)
- Work closely with sales/founder on new opportunities
- Scope projects, define approaches, and price them properly
- Avoid the classic consulting traps (under-scoping, over-promising)
- Improve our win rate through clearer, more credible proposals
Being the Senior Face to Clients
- Build trust with senior stakeholders (CTO, CIO, Heads of Engineering)
- Act as escalation point when things get difficult (they will sometimes)
- Turn good delivery into repeat business and long-term relationships
Building the Team
- Help hire great engineers, consultants, and delivery leads
- Coach and develop the team — especially those stepping into leadership roles
- Create a culture of ownership, quality, and pragmatism
Driving the Commercial Engine
- Improve utilisation, margins, and predictability
- Bring visibility to how we’re performing (without heavy bureaucracy)
- Help us scale in a way that stays profitable
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Background in IT consulting / professional services
- Experience leading delivery across multiple client engagements
- Strong exposure to:
- Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- DevOps / platform engineering
- Software delivery
- You’ve likely been:
- Head of Delivery / Professional Services, or
- A senior delivery leader ready to step up
