How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Interim Alternative Funds Counsel

    Location: Paris (preferred) or London

    Start: ASAP (2–4 weeks)

Duration: Initial contract to September (with potential to extend)

An international financial services group is seeking an interim Legal Counsel to join its Group Corporate Finance & Investments Legal team. The role sits at group level and supports the investments function during a period of internal transition and parental leave.

    The role

You will support a centralised investments team overseeing investments held by insurance entities across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with internal investment professionals and external asset managers, the role covers a broad and practical range of matters, including:

    • Alternative investments, predominantly via fund‑of‑funds structures across private equity, private debt, infrastructure and some real estate
    • Ongoing coordination with third‑party asset managers and major banking partners at group level
    • Review, oversight and escalation of investment documentation
    • Involvement in derivatives transactions, primarily hedging activities (with ISDA documentation largely delegated and robust templates already in place)

This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role, well suited to an interim Counsel who enjoys being close to the investment process.

    The ideal profile

    • Experience advising an institutional investor or asset manager (e.g. Insurance group, asset manager or in‑house investment platform, rather than private equity or hedge fund)
    • Strong exposure to alternative funds is essential; derivatives experience is helpful but not required
    • Comfortable operating in an operational, transactional environment with significant stakeholder interaction
    • Open to working on derivatives‑related matters and developing further exposure in this area
    • Mid‑ to senior‑level lawyer with no people management responsibilities
    • English‑speaking role; French is helpful but not essential

    Location & travel

    • Paris is preferred, but candidates based elsewhere in Europe are welcome
    • If not Paris‑based, travel to Paris is expected approximately every two weeks for 2–3 days
    • Travel costs are not covered and should be reflected in the day rate

    Additional information

    • Fast‑moving recruitment process
    • Strong internal legal support and well‑established documentation and processes
