Role Overview of a Lift Engineer
This is a field-based role focused initially on service and repair of lifts, with the opportunity to progress into installation work over time (with full training provided). You will be fully embedded within a supportive engineering team.
You will work across a variety of sites including commercial buildings, residential properties, schools, and care environments.
Key Responsibilities of a Lift Engineer
Service, maintenance, and repair of lift systems
Responding to breakdowns and emergency call-outs
Fault finding and diagnosing mechanical/electrical issues
Completing service reports via tablet
Ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards
Liaising professionally with clients and site contacts
Supporting installation work when trained and required
Working flexibly as part of a responsive engineering team
Hours & Working Pattern
40 hours per week (standard hours: 8am – 4pm)
Reactive work required depending on lift breakdowns
Flexibility is essential, as call-outs can vary
Flexibility works both ways – time can be given back or adjusted when engineers exceed hours
Early finishes may be available where workload allows and commitments are met
Salary & Benefits
£38,000 per year starting salary
Overtime paid at:Time and a half (after 10pm)
Double time (weekends and bank holidays)
Company van provided (fully equipped, top specification, kept at home)

Opportunity to progress into installation work
Requirements of a Lift Engineer
Ideally NVQ Level 3 in Lift Engineering (must be able to demonstrate qualification)
Strong experience in lift service and repair preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Flexible and reactive approach to workload
Strong communication and customer service skills
Full UK driving licence
Must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check (due to working in schools and with vulnerable people)
