How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pay: £27,000.00 per year

    Job Description:

    Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician for a international manufacturing company at one of their sites in Trafford Park, Manchester. Our client is a specialist manufacturer of food flavourings and have an open vacancy for a Laboratory Technician to join the team, initially on an 8-month contract however could lead to a permanent position. (please note you will be employed through our client, not the agency)

    Purpose of the role:

    Assure the quality of raw materials; packaging and delivery vehicle and the suppliers of those are in accordance with established quality standards. Assures the quality of all finished products meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations. Working on the caramel plant to produce product as required.

    Main Responsibilities:

    · Uphold company Mission Statement, Quality Policy, Values and Beliefs

    · Assure the quality of products and raw materials used are acceptable.

    · To calibrate all laboratory systems as per the national standards

    · To be the custodian and the expert on all caramel and burnt sugar test methods

    · Ensure all laboratory & cooking records are up to date and accurate

    · To input formulae into IA batching system

    · Update E1 quality control module

    · Supervise & Coach operatives when carrying measurements in the laboratory

    · Conduct tests of all new operatives to ensure that they are qualified to undertake the all the caramel test methods

    · To be knowledgeable on BRCGS and must have a passed level 3 in HACCP for food

    · Write procedures for the laboratory

    · Quality / Safety Auditing

    Requirements:

    · Qualification in either chemistry or food science (A level/degree)

    · Familiar with BRCGS/ISO would be advantageous

    · Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    · Excellent computer skills.

    · Potential travel to UK sites/Ireland when required
