The Role
As a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring the timely delivery of high quality compliance work while supporting senior team members on more technical matters.
You will also play a key role in reviewing work, supporting junior staff, and contributing to the continued development of the private client team.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Compliance
Manage a portfolio of private clients, including high net worth individuals, property investors, and internationally mobile individuals
Review and finalise personal tax returns and associated computations prepared by junior team members
Ensure all compliance deadlines are met and work is delivered accurately and efficiently
Handle client queries and provide a high standard of service on a day to day basis
Team Support & Development
Supervise and review the work of junior staff, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback
Support the development of less experienced team members through coaching and on the job training
Assist with workflow management and allocation of work across the team
Advisory & Technical Support
Work alongside senior managers and directors on more complex tax matters, including areas such as residence, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and trusts
Assist with ad hoc advisory projects, including research and preparation of reports
Draft client correspondence, tax planning summaries, and technical notes where required
Client Relationships
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact
Attend client meetings and support the delivery of tailored tax advice
Identify opportunities to add value and support the development of further advisory work
RequirementsAbout You
ATT and or CTA qualified, or qualified by experience
Strong background in personal tax compliance within an accountancy practice or specialist tax firm
Experience managing a portfolio of clients and reviewing work prepared by others
Good technical knowledge across private client tax, with an interest in developing advisory expertise
Strong communication skills and a client focused approach
Organised, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
Desirable:
Exposure to residence and domicile matters, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, or trusts
Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
