How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Attend police stations to advise and represent clients at early stages (or be willing to undertake accreditation if not already held)
Carry out legal research to support case preparation and ensure up-to-date knowledge of legislation and case law
Draft a range of legal documentation accurately and efficiently
Take instructions, prepare statements, and assist with mitigation work where required
Provide clear, consistent updates and guidance to clients throughout their case
Work closely with colleagues, external agencies, and other professionals to progress matters effectively

    Candidate Profile

We are keen to hear from candidates who:

Have prior experience within criminal defence work
Ideally have police station attendance experience or are working towards accreditation
Are confident managing competing deadlines and a busy workload
Demonstrate strong communication and client care skills
Take a professional, resilient and empathetic approach to their work

    What's on Offer

The firm offers a supportive working environment alongside a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

Competitive annual leave entitlement, with additional discretionary days over the festive period
Flexible and hybrid working options depending on the nature of the role
Flexitime arrangements to support work-life balance
Additional annual leave days through flexible leave arrangements
    Bonus potential for fee-earning staff
Pension scheme and life assurance cover (after qualifying period)
    Structured training and development opportunities
    Employee recognition and reward schemes
Various voluntary benefits including healthcare plans, cycle to work schemes, and staff savings options
Enhanced sick pay and maternity pay provisions (subject to eligibility)

    Equal Opportunities

Our client is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse working environment and welcomes applications from all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments can be made throughout the recruitment process and during employment where required.

If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV
