The Role
A leadership role overseeing a client payroll portfolio, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll delivery while managing and developing a team.
You’ll act as the key escalation point for technical payroll issues and play a central role in driving team performance, service quality, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage payroll delivery for a portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines are met
* Lead, support and develop a team of payroll professionals
* Act as escalation point for complex payroll and client issues
* Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal procedures
* Monitor KPIs, team performance and client profitability
* Review and approve payroll processes including pensions and payments
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations
* Drive continuous improvement across processes and service delivery
The Ideal Candidate
* Strong UK payroll knowledge including legislation and pensions
* Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
* Experience managing high-volume or multi-frequency payrolls
* Strong Excel and numerical skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Highly organised with the ability to meet tight deadlines
* Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability
