How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Plumber or Gas Engineer looking to pass on your skills to the next generation? Or are you an established Plumbing & Heating, Gas, or HVAC Lecturer or Assessor seeking a new opportunity in a high‑quality training environment?

Whichever you consider yourself, it would be great to hear from you.

The Bicester Construction Skills Centre is designed specifically for apprentices, existing tradespeople, and employers. It offers a professional environment that feels much more like a workplace than a traditional college. Our Blue Flame Accredited Gas Centre delivers Gas Safe qualifications alongside our apprenticeship provision, supported by modern workshops, state‑of‑the‑art equipment, and industry‑standard materials.

You’ll be joining a small, enthusiastic, and highly committed team that genuinely understands the industry and the skills employers value most.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver practical and theory‑based training to level 3 apprentices in classrooms and workshops.
    • Support learners to develop essential workplace behaviours, including punctuality, teamwork, and effective communication.
    • Carry out training/assessments in the workplace to ensure competence and progress.
    • Contribute to a positive, professional learning environment that mirrors real‑world industry standards.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high‑quality provision and learner outcomes.

    Skills and Experience

We welcome applications from both experienced industry professionals and qualified lecturers.

    Essential:

    • Qualified to a Level 3 NVQ / Diploma in Plumbing and Domestic Heating (e.g. City & Guilds 8202, 6189, 9289 or equivalent).
    • Significant industry experience in Plumbing/Gas trades.
    • Strong practical skills and up‑to‑date industry knowledge.
    • Enthusiasm for developing others and sharing professional expertise.
    • A passion for teaching the next generation of plumbing and gas trade professionals.

    Desirable:

    • Experience teaching in a post-16 college environment.
