How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Service Engineer

    Annual Salary: £(phone number removed) DOE
    Location: UK-wide travel with potential overseas assignments (need to be commutable to St. Helens)
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (subject to probation period)A leader in electrical engineering and renewable energy systems are looking for a Service Engineer. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe execution of service-related projects, including servicing, upgrades, and life extension of switchgear and ancillary equipment.

    You will represent the business across various customer sites in the UK and potentially overseas, embodying our commitment to customer care and continuous improvement.

    Day-to-Day of the Role:

    Lead installation and commissioning activities within assigned projects.
    Provide technical support and advice to existing customers, addressing enquiries and promoting future service offerings.
    Prepare for mobilisation with project-specific risk assessments and method statements.
    Promote and participate in proactive health and safety practices at customer premises.
    Perform service-related tasks safely, including switchgear service and maintenance, upgrades, protection relay testing, and breakdown repairs.
    Engage in necessary training as identified by the company to enhance safety, competence, and task performance.
    Ensure timely submission of reports and management of expenses.Required Skills & Qualifications:

    Comfortable with regular travel and potential offshore work (Monday-Friday).
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    Proactive decision-making and results-oriented approach.
    Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage pressure effectively.
    Proficient IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.
    Must hold a valid UK Driving License.Desirable:

    Experience in electrical switchgear, mechanical installation, and electrical testing.
    Familiarity with technical report production.
    Understanding of electrical switchgear operations, maintenance, and fault finding.
    Experience in offshore or marine environments.Education/Qualifications:

    Relevant electrical qualification (Level 3 or equivalent).
    BTec, City and Guilds, or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field.Benefits:
