How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a hands-on, operational role, suited to someone who enjoys being at the centre of day-to-day HR activity, managing complex employee relations matters and working closely with stakeholders across multiple sites. It is not a purely strategic role, you will be actively involved in delivering HR support and resolving issues on the ground.

The role is hybrid, with regular travel (2–3 days per week) to our Head Office in Warwick and across our campuses, including Caledonia North and South (Scotland), Knockloughrim and Newry (Ireland), Newtown (Wales), and Northampton.

    About You

    • Proven experience in a busy, operational HR role, with a strong focus on employee relations
    • Comfortable managing multiple complex ER cases simultaneously across several sites
    • Experience working in a regulated environment and/or with Trade Unions
    • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, with the ability to apply this practically and commercially
    • Confident building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels
    • Able to work at pace, managing a reactive and demanding workload
    • CIPD Level 7 qualified (or equivalent experience)

    We offer:

    • A competitive salary, staff laptop, free breakfast and lunches and on-site free parking
    • 25 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
    • Workplace pension scheme and Staff Referral scheme
    • Collaborate with fellow OSG educators across the UK and around the world.
    • High-quality, technology-empowered learning environments.
    • Strong career advancement opportunities.
