How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Search Consultancy is looking for a highly skilled, 2391 Testing & Inspection Electrician to join our busy mechanical and electrical teams across Newcastle. We are partnering with leading commercial and industrial contractors who require a "spark" capable of high-volume testing and signing off installations at a fast pace.

    The Role

    * Full Testing Scope: Carrying out Initial Verification on new installs and Periodic Inspection & Testing (EICR) on existing systems.

    * Remedial Works: Identifying faults during inspection and carrying out high-speed remedial repairs to ensure compliance.
    * Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all work strictly adheres to the latest BS 7671 (18th Edition) regulations.
    * Productivity Driven: We need sparks that are used to the speed of large-scale sites who can keep the testing program on track without compromising on technical accuracy.

    Requirements
    * Qualifications: City & Guilds 2391 (or 2394/2395) is essential, alongside NVQ Level 3 and 18th Edition.
    * JIB/ECS Card: A valid Gold Card is mandatory for these sites.
    * Experience: Proven track record in commercial or industrial testing. You must be competent in fault finding and high-volume reporting.
    * Tools & Equipment: Full professional hand tools and a calibrated multi-function tester (MFT). Standard 5-point PPE required.
    * Reliability: Must be able to work independently to hit strict handover deadlines.
    * Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.

    Why Work With Search?

    * Steady Pipeline: We work with the biggest M&E contractors in the North East; when one project finishes, we aim to move you straight to the next site in Newcastle.
    * Weekly Pay: Reliable, on-time payments every Friday via CIS, PAYE, or Umbrella.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
