How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the organisation

Our client is an independent regulatory body in the UK responsible for ensuring the financial markets work well for the consumers and the economy, promoting market integrity and effective competition.

    About the role

We are seeking a contract Market Risk Specialist to support the development of policy proposals as part of the review of the market risk capital requirements for specialised investment firms. This work forms part of a broader programme of reform signalled by the FCA's Chief Executive in October 2024 and subsequently reflected in the UK Government's Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy published in July 2025.

The successful candidate will provide specialist technical support to the team as it develops proposals for consultation, with a Consultation Paper (CP) scheduled for publication in October 2026 and supports the subsequent refinement and finalisation of policy proposals following consultation.

    Role Responsibilities:

Provide technical market risk expertise to support the review of capital requirements for specialised investment firms.
Support the development of policy proposals for inclusion in the Consultation Paper scheduled for publication in October 2026.
Contribute to policy analysis, drafting and internal challenge on complex market risk issues.
Assist in assessing the prudential and wider regulatory implications of potential policy options.
Support the team in reviewing, analysing and responding to stakeholder feedback received through the consultation process.
Help ensure policy proposals are evidence-based, coherent and deliverable within the required timetable.
Work closely with existing team members and relevant internal stakeholders to maintain momentum on this high-profile and technically complex project.

    Skills:

    Minimum:

Strong technical knowledge of market risk and prudential capital requirements.
Experience of analysing complex regulatory or policy issues, ideally in financial services regulation, risk, prudential policy or a related field.
Ability to apply technical expertise to support the development of policy proposals.
Strong drafting skills, including the ability to contribute to consultation and policy documents.

    Essential:

Ability to interpret and assess stakeholder feedback and translate this into policy recommendations.
Strong analytical skills and sound judgement.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and deliver to demanding timelines.
