How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Newton Aycliffe
    Salary: £50,000
    Shift: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–3:00pm

    Job Description:

    As Production Unit Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading and coordinating manufacturing teams within a busy production environment. You will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence across safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Leading and managing production teams to meet output and performance targets

    * Driving a strong culture of health & safety and quality standards

    * Implementing and improving production processes and procedures

    * Coaching and developing a team of Supervisors across a 24/7 function

    * Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities

    * Monitoring KPIs and driving performance improvements across the operation

    * Working cross-functionally with other departments to optimise output and efficiency

    * Managing inventory accuracy and addressing production challenges proactively

    Skills Required:

    * Proven experience in a Production Manager / Leader role within high-volume manufacturing, FMCG or automotive environments

    * Ability to manage a 24/7 shift rotation with a team of 4 supervisors.

    * Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles (e.g. 5S, 5 Why, TPM, Kaizen)

    * Experience working to high quality standards (e.g. IATF16949 preferred)

    * Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
