Simply Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist ASD school in Alsager to join them on a long term basis. . The school is committed to creating a supportive, structured, and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive both academically and socially. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils reach their full potential.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SEN specialists, and support staff to provide a nurturing and structured learning environment. The school delivers a personalised curriculum designed to meet the diverse needs of pupils with ASD, including communication and sensory needs.
Your role as a Teaching Assistant will include:
Supporting pupils with ASD to access learning through adapted and personalised curriculum approaches
Building positive, consistent relationships to support communication and emotional regulation
Assisting with structured routines and visual supports to aid understanding and independence
Supporting 1:1 and small group activities focused on academic, social, and life skills development
Implementing strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory support (training can be provided)
Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils through calm, consistent approaches
Assisting with transitions throughout the school day to ensure pupils feel secure and supported
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
Holds a Teaching Assistant Qualification (Level 1, 2, or 3 - desirable but not essential)
Has an interest in or experience working with children with ASD or special educational needs
Understands the importance of structure, routine, and communication strategies
Is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships
Can remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment
Is committed to ongoing professional development and learningAs a Teaching Assistant, you will benefit from:
