How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Duties:

A Mobile HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Technician is a specialist who provides repair, maintenance, and diagnostic services for trucks, lorries, and other heavy vehicles, often at the vehicle’s location rather than in a workshop. Their duties are varied and require both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

    1. Vehicle Diagnostics and Inspection

    * Conducting thorough inspections of HGVs to identify mechanical or electrical faults.

    * Using diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine, transmission, braking, and electronic systems.

    * Performing pre-delivery or safety checks to ensure vehicles meet legal and operational standards.

    2. Maintenance and Repair

    * Carrying out scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, brake servicing, and filter replacements.

    * Repairing or replacing faulty parts, including engines, gearboxes, suspensions, and electrical components.

    * Welding or fabricating parts if necessary to restore vehicle functionality.

    3. On-Site Emergency Repairs

    * Responding to breakdowns at customer locations, including roadside emergencies.

    * Assessing whether a vehicle can be repaired on-site or needs to be towed to a workshop.

    * Prioritizing urgent repairs to minimize downtime for commercial fleets.

    4. Documentation and Reporting

    * Maintaining detailed service and repair records for each vehicle.

    * Reporting recurring faults or vehicle performance issues to fleet managers.

    * Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    5. Customer Service and Communication

    * Explaining technical issues to clients in an understandable way.

    * Advising on preventive maintenance to avoid future breakdowns.

    * Coordinating with workshop teams or suppliers for parts and specialized repairs.

    6. Technical Upkeep

    * Staying up-to-date with new HGV technologies, including electric or hybrid systems.

    * Learning new diagnostic software, tools, and repair methods.

    * Attending training sessions or certifications as required by regulations or employers.

    Skills & Qualities Needed:

    * Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge of heavy vehicles.

    * Ability to work independently in varied locations.

    * Problem-solving skills and adaptability under pressure.

    * Good communication and organizational skills.

    * Physical fitness for handling heavy components and tools.

In essence, a Mobile HGV Technician ensures that heavy vehicles stay operational, safe, and efficient, often working under tight schedules and in challenging environments.
