ABOUT THE ROLE

This Senior Electrical Design Engineer position is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and delivery of bespoke test systems and instrumentation solutions.

Working across the full project lifecycle, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements and developing integrated electrical and instrumentation systems for specialist applications.

This role is specifically suited to an engineer who has delivered full lifecycle turnkey projects involving bespoke machinery or test systems.

Key Duties:

* Interpret customer requirements and develop practical engineering solutions

* Design electrical and instrumentation systems using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical

* Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation

* Specify and integrate sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems

* Support system build, integration, testing, and commissioning

* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development and delivery

* Work directly with customers and internal stakeholders throughout projects

* Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and delivery

CANDIDATES

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer role would suit an experienced engineer with a strong background in electrical design, instrumentation, and the delivery of bespoke engineering systems.

You will be comfortable working across disciplines, taking ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, and engaging directly with customers.

Key Requirements:

* HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

* Strong experience using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design

* Proven experience delivering full lifecycle turnkey engineering projects

* Experience designing and integrating instrumentation and sensor systems

* Experience working on bespoke machinery or test systems

* Hands-on experience with integration, testing, and commissioning

* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

* Ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders

Desirable:

* Background in aerospace, defence, or similar regulated industries

* Experience with data acquisition or test environments

* Exposure to control systems (PLC / SCADA)

* Commercial awareness or involvement in project costing
