This is a rewarding community-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and engaging with the public.
Working Hours:
* Approximately 7.5 hours per week
* Term time only (39 weeks per year)
* Around 45 minutes between 08:00 – 09:00 (morning)
* Around 45 minutes between 14:45 – 15:45 (afternoon)
* Exact times may vary depending on the location
Key Responsibilities:
* Safely assist pedestrians, particularly school children, in crossing the road
* Be mindful of the needs of all users, including individuals with disabilities and mobility impairments
* Maintain regular communication with local schools attended by children using the crossing
* Monitor and assess risks at the crossing site, reporting any issues or defects to your supervisor
* Assist in preparing reports relating to accidents, incidents, or failure-to-stop occurrences
* Use clear and confident signals to stop traffic, ensuring vehicles remain stationary until pedestrians have safely crossed
* Take responsibility for maintaining issued uniform and equipment, requesting replacements when necessary
