How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Environmental, Health & Safety Co-ordinator

    Birmingham

    Circa £30,000 – £40,000 + benefits

    Manufacturing / Industrial

An established and growing industrial manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Co-ordinator to support the delivery of its EHS strategy across UK operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional looking to develop their career within a structured and supportive environment, working closely with senior stakeholders while gaining exposure to a multi-site operation. The organisation operates across several UK locations and supplies into a range of industrial sectors. With strong systems already in place, the business is continuing to invest in strengthening its health, safety, and environmental performance.

    The Opportunity

You will support the Compliance Manager in maintaining and developing the Health, Safety and Environmental function across the group. This is a varied and hands-on role, offering exposure to operational, compliance and environmental activities, including ISO 14001 standards. You will play a key part in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    Health & Safety
    • Support the development and implementation of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
    • Maintain accurate accident and incident records
    • Assist with incident investigations and near miss reporting
    • Carry out and review risk assessments across the business
    • Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance
    • Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
    • Liaise with HR regarding occupational health requirements

    Environmental
    • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
    • Assist with environmental audits and compliance activities
    • Manage environmental documentation requests from customers and suppliers

    Operations Support
    • Maintain training records and employee skills matrices
    • Produce regular reports on health & safety metrics, including accidents and operational data
    • Support site management with employee attendance and operational reporting
    • Maintain records relating to Gemba walks, TPM and 5S activities
    • Ensure notice boards and communications are kept up to date
    • Support document control, including SOP creation and sign-off tracking
    • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Compliance Manager
    • Assist with wider business activities such as stock checks and service coordination

    About You

You will be a proactive and organised EHS professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. You will enjoy a varied role that combines compliance, administration, and on-site engagement, and be confident liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the business.

We recognise that not all candidates will meet every requirement listed. If you are a strong co-ordinator with excellent organisational skills, a flexible and adaptable approach, and the ability to support a busy department, your application will still be considered even without direct Health and Safety experience.

    Essential Experience
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage teams across the business
    • Strong IT skills, including the ability to produce reports and analyse data
    • Ability to work independently and use initiative
    • Full UK driving licence
