£28,000 - £35,000 DOE + Overtime, Bonuses and Shift allowances.

Our client is a leading European provider of analytical testing services across air, water, dust, soil, asphalt, and a wide range of construction materials. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and outstanding customer service, they are expanding their South East team and seeking skilled Construction Materials Technicians to join their Watford operation.

This opportunity is well suited to individuals with experience as a Materials Testing Technician, Geotechnical Technician, CMT Field Technician, Asphalt Technician, or Soils & Concrete Technician. We also welcome applications from candidates who have a genuine interest in Geotechnologies or scientific materials testing and are looking to begin their career in this field

The Role

As a Construction Materials Technician, you will carry out on-site sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with British and European Standards. You'll work closely with clients, support colleagues, and ensure accurate, high‑quality test data is produced.

A typical day will involve the following

Conduct on-site sampling and in-situ testing of construction materials
Liaise professionally with clients and site personnel
Prepare, record, and present test data accurately
Support colleagues with test methods and procedures
Cross-check calculations and results for quality assurance
Perform daily vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and maintain cleanliness
Assist with sample preparation when required
Carry out additional duties as needed to support operations

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role you will have the following

Be qualified to GCSE Grade C and above / Grade 4 - 9 in Maths, English and one science subject.
Experienced in Geotechnical or ground materials testing (highly advantageous)
Full UK driving licence
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within a quality system
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
Team-oriented with a flexible, proactive approach
Reliable, punctual, and well-organised
Self-motivated with strong prioritisation skills
Positive attitude and adaptability to new systems and procedures
