TeacherActive is excited to be working with a primary school in Smethwick to recruit a dedicated and experienced HLTA. This full-time role will see you working five days a week from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, term-time only. The ideal candidate will have a HLTA qualification or QTS, especially if you are looking to gain more classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities of the HLTA:
Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons to ensure a positive learning experience for students
Leading small group or 1:1 interventions to support the learning and development of pupils
Helping to prepare resources and assist in the assessment of pupils’ progress
Taking responsibility for managing and supervising students when the teacher is unavailable
Providing a high standard of care and guidance to students, promoting positive behaviour and engagement
Assisting with administrative duties, including marking work, keeping records, and preparing teaching materials
Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a safe and focused learning environment
Supporting pupils with additional needs and ensuring an inclusive classroom environment
Collaborating with teachers, other staff members, and parents to monitor student progress and wellbeing
The successful HLTA will have:
HLTA qualification or QTS
Previous experience working with children in a school setting
Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching practices
Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Enthusiasm and passion for supporting children’s learning and development
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
