How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: North London (Brent Cross area)
    Salary: Competitive (DOE) + Package
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
    Recruiter: City Calling
Ref: City Calling – QS /

    About the Role

City Calling is delighted to be recruiting a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a respected main contractor operating in North London. Our client has recently been awarded significant works within a regeneration scheme – one of the largest and most high-profile development projects in the capital.

This is an opportunity to join a hands-on, delivery-focused team working across multiple residential blocks, including apartments, reception areas, amenity spaces, and leisure facilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Manage all commercial aspects of the project from procurement to final account.

    *

Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment in line with contract terms.

    *

Monitor project costs, variations, and change control, ensuring early warning of cost overruns.

    *

Procure and manage sub-contractor packages, including placing orders, processing payments, and agreeing final accounts.

    *

Liaise with the site team to track progress, manage material deliveries, and resolve commercial issues on the ground.

    *

Work closely with the client and supply chain to ensure timely flow of information and materials – including managing logistics where supplies are sourced from Europe.

    *

Attend site progress meetings and provide commercial reports to senior management.

    *

Assist in resolving drying time and sequencing challenges in relation to floor screeds and changing environmental conditions.

    About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on residential or mixed-use new-build projects, ideally with a main contractor or developer. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to solve practical commercial problems on site.

    Essential skills and experience:

    *

Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor in UK construction.

    *

Experience with sub-contract procurement, valuations, and cost reporting.

    *

    Strong negotiation and communication skills.

    *

Good knowledge of JCT or similar standard forms of contract.

    *

Ability to work independently and as part of a small commercial team.

    *

Eligible to work in the UK.

    Desirable but not essential:

    *

    Experience with residential apartment schemes.

    *

Familiarity with logistics / material sourcing from European suppliers.

    *

Experience with floor screeding packages and managing drying time issues.

    What Our Client Offers

    *

A key role on a flagship regeneration project (Brent Cross).

    *

Stable, long-term workload with a growing contractor.

    *

Competitive salary and genuine career progression.

    *

Supportive team environment where your input is valued
