How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    EA Associates are working with a well-respected and established Drylining contractor who are looking to appoint an Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team based just south of Cambridge.

    The business operates predominantly within the commercial sector, delivering a wide range of projects including office developments, education schemes, healthcare, and large-scale interior fit-outs. With a strong reputation for quality delivery and repeat business, they have built a solid pipeline of work and continue to grow steadily.

    This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Estimator or an ambitious Junior / Trainee looking to develop within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

    The Role:
    You will play a key role within the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders while working closely with internal teams, clients, and the supply chain. You will be involved from initial enquiry through to project handover.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for drylining packages

    * Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation

    * Carrying out take-offs and pricing works accurately

    * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

    * Analysing tender returns and ensuring competitiveness

    * Supporting the bid process through to submission

    * Assisting with project handovers to the delivery team

    * Working closely with Directors and senior management on key tenders

    Requirements:

    * Previous experience in drylining, interiors, or construction estimating (or a strong desire to get into estimating at trainee level)

    * Good understanding of drylining systems and commercial fit-out projects beneficial

    * Strong numerical and analytical skills

    * High attention to detail

    * Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders
