How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Sue Ross Recruitment is proud to be working on behalf of a highly respected, award‑winning Sheffield law firm to recruit an experienced Assistant Conveyancer for its specialist Residential Conveyancing team.

This firm is recognised for its forward‑thinking approach, strong client relationships and commitment to excellence. Built on trust, expertise and innovation, the team works collaboratively to deliver clear, practical legal solutions while cutting through unnecessary jargon. Clients are carefully guided throughout their legal journey, with a sharp focus on achieving the best possible outcomes.

    The Role

This is a technical conveyancing position, supporting senior fee‑earners on complex residential property matters that sit outside routine sale and purchase work. The role would suit an Assistant Conveyancer already operating in a technical capacity or someone with previous experience of more complex property transactions.

You will act as a key support to senior colleagues, playing an integral role in progressing technically challenging files while maintaining the high standards the firm is known for.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Supporting senior conveyancers with complex residential conveyancing transactions

    * Working on matters including freehold reversions, transfers of equity, lease extensions, variations of lease, title variations and complex title structures

    * Reviewing contract packs, title documentation and supporting papers

    * Undertaking detailed title investigations and identifying defects, restrictions, covenants and boundary issues

    * Raising and responding to technical enquiries relating to title, lease provisions, rights and restrictions

    * Reviewing lease documentation and assisting with landlord and tenant considerations

    * Drafting and preparing technical legal documents, including transfers, deeds of variation, licences and supplemental documents

    * Reviewing search results and highlighting legal or practical property issues

    * Liaising with buyers’ and sellers’ solicitors, estate agents, lenders, IFAs, landlords and managing agents

    * Supporting matters involving multi‑title and multi‑party transactions

    * Assisting with lender requirements and ensuring compliance with Land Registry and lender panel conditions

    * Preparing files for exchange and completion on complex matters

    * Maintaining accurate file notes and correspondence on the case management system

    * Escalating complex legal or title issues where appropriate

    * Providing wider technical support to the residential conveyancing team

    About You

    * Previous experience as an Assistant Conveyancer, Conveyancing Executive or similar role

    * Exposure to technical residential conveyancing work is essential

    * Strong understanding of title issues, leases and complex property structures

    * Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

    * Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with multiple third parties

    * A proactive team player with a client‑focused mindset

    Why Apply?

    * Join a market‑leading Sheffield law firm with a strong reputation

    * Work within a supportive, collaborative and technically strong team

    * High‑quality, interesting work away from routine conveyancing

    * Excellent opportunity for professional development and progression

    * Competitive salary and benefits package
