A dedicated residential children’s home care provider based in South London delivering high-quality, child-focused support within a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment. The organisation supports children and young people aged 8–17 with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
With a growing service and increasing demand for placements, the organisation is now hiring multiple Residential Children’s Support Workers to join the team and help deliver consistent, compassionate, and structured care. This is an opportunity to join a values-driven service where staff development, training, and progression are actively supported.
The role
A Residential Children’s Support Worker is required to support the day-to-day care of children and young people within a residential home setting. You will play a key role in providing emotional support, maintaining safety, and helping young people build independence and resilience.
You will take responsibility for:
• Supporting children and young people with daily routines including meals, hygiene, education, and recreational activities
• Building positive, trusting relationships to create a safe and stable environment
• Working closely with care plans, risk assessments, and key working responsibilities
• Supporting behaviour management using de-escalation and restorative approaches
• Maintaining accurate records, incident reports, and daily logs in line with Ofsted requirements
• Working collaboratively with families, social workers, and external professionals
• Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
• Supporting emotional, social, and behavioural development of young people
• Participating in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training
• Working flexibly across a rota including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
• Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
• Valid Enhanced DBS certificate
• Subscription to the DBS Update Service
• Completion of Children’s Care / Safeguarding training or equivalent
• Experience working with children or young people in a care or support setting
Other DESIRABLE skills include
• Experience in residential children’s homes
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and Ofsted standards
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive intervention techniques
• Emotional resilience and a compassionate, child-centred approach
• Flexibility to work shifts including sleep-ins and weekends
