A dedicated SEN school in Rochdale is looking to appoint a driven and resilient Sports Coach to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, working through Aspire People.
This opportunity is well suited to individuals who recognise the value of sport in building confidence, improving behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing in young people.
In this role, you will use physical activity as a key tool to engage pupils, whether through planned sports sessions or by supporting learning within the classroom.
Many of the students benefit from structure, clear expectations and positive role models, so your ability to build rapport and encourage consistency will be essential.
You'll collaborate closely with teachers and pastoral staff, providing support both on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.
Sports Coach - Key Duties
* Lead and deliver engaging physical activities that promote wellbeing and positive behaviour
* Support pupils with SEMH needs during lessons and throughout the school day
* Encourage the use of sport as a constructive outlet for managing emotions
* Develop positive, trusting relationships with students who may find mainstream education challenging
* Demonstrate and reinforce teamwork, resilience and respectful behaviour
* Assist with behaviour management strategies and help pupils re-engage with learning
Sports Coach - Who This Role Would Suit
This position is ideal for candidates with experience or interest in:
* Sports Coaching or Sports Science
* Competitive or semi-professional sport
* Community or youth sports programmes
* Physical Education or activity-based support roles
