How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Account Handler

    Our client is an independent, award-winning commercial insurance broker with a strong reputation in the market. Due to continued growth and future expansion plans, they are seeking a Commercial Account Handler to join their team at their Darwen office.

    Their office benefits from excellent transport links and offers on-site parking.

    The Opportunity
    We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual who is eager to contribute to the company’s growth and become a valued member of the team. This role offers the opportunity to have real input into day-to-day operations and help drive the business forward.

    You will work closely with all departments and provide key support to the Director in managing their book of business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Handling incoming enquiries

    * Supporting and reporting directly to the Director

    * Arranging new policies, renewals, and mid-term adjustments

    * Preparing reports, insurance documentation, and presentations

    * Coordinating renewal and new business meetings for the Director

    * Managing the claims process from start to finish

    * Maintaining accurate client records and data

    * Negotiating with underwriters to secure the best terms, coverage, and pricing

    * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurers

    Essential Requirements

    * GCSE Maths and English (Grade A–C / 9–4)

    * Proven experience with commercial insurance products

    * Experience using Acturis

    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office

    * Professional and detail-oriented approach

    * Highly motivated with a proactive attitude

    * Strong organisational and time management skills

    * Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

    * Demonstrated track record in client retention

    Desirable

    * CII qualification (or working towards)
