How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Religious Studies Teacher (with KS3 Lead Responsibility)
    Location: Barnet, London, UK
    Salary: £37,870 – £56,154 per annum
    Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
    Start Date: September 2026
    Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to M6.

    A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in the London Borough of Barnet is seeking a passionate and ambitious Religious Studies Teacher to join its successful Humanities department. This is an exciting opportunity to take on additional responsibility for leading Key Stage 3 Religious Studies, making it ideal for a teacher ready to step into a leadership role while continuing to deliver outstanding classroom practice.

    The Role

    You will teach Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5), delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that promote critical thinking, respect, and understanding of diverse perspectives. Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you will play a key role in developing and leading the KS3 curriculum, working closely with the Head of Department to drive standards and support colleagues.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver high-quality Religious Studies lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
    • Lead and develop the Key Stage 3 Religious Studies curriculum
    • Support curriculum planning, assessment, and departmental improvement strategies
    • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages discussion and critical thinking
    • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement
    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the Humanities department
    Requirements

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS
    • Specialism in Religious Studies or a related subject
    • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching
    • Experience or potential to lead curriculum development at KS3
    • Commitment to raising student attainment and supporting all learners
    • Proactive, reflective, and collaborative approach to teaching
