Research Associate – Cellular Immunology / Cell Therapy
Oxford, UK (On-site) | Biotech | Full-time
If you’ve worked hands-on with primary human immune cells and want to apply that in a cutting-edge biotech environment — this is worth a look.
We’re partnered with a fast-growing, well-funded biotech developing next-generation cell therapies for oncology, and they’re building out their immunology team.
This role sits at the core of their R&D function — working directly with human samples, immune cells, and functional assays that drive real programme decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Isolating and working with primary immune cells (e.g. PBMCs, T cells) from human blood
- Culturing and maintaining primary and mammalian cells under aseptic conditions
- Running flow cytometry assays (immunophenotyping + functional readouts)
- Supporting and optimising functional assays (cytotoxicity, cytokine release, proliferation)
- Contributing to cell therapy workflows (including T cell-based approaches)
- Analysing and presenting data to internal teams
- Maintaining accurate records (ELNs, SOPs, lab documentation)
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- BSc or MSc in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related field
- Hands-on experience isolating primary immune cells from human blood (e.g. PBMC isolation / Ficoll)
- Experience working with primary cell culture and mammalian cell systems
- Practical experience in flow cytometry (FlowJo or similar)
- Industry experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO
Desirable:
- Experience with cell separation techniques (e.g. MACS, magnetic bead sorting)
- Exposure to functional immunology assays
- Any experience in cell therapy / CAR-T / T cell biology
Why This Role?
- Work directly with primary human immune cells in a real-world R&D setting
- Join a high-growth biotech with strong funding and momentum
- Be part of a hands-on, collaborative team where your work has real impact
- Clear progression into more senior immunology or cell therapy roles
