How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    I am seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join a fit-out and refurbishment main contractor, delivering projects across London. They specialise in high-quality interior fit-outs and refurbishments across sectors including commercial, education, hospitality, retail and high-end residential. They typically deliver projects ranging from £15k up to £5m, covering both full-scale refurbishments and smaller maintenance works, which gives them a diverse and consistent pipeline of work.

    The role will be based out of their office in Chatham, Kent with visits to site in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business with a strong reputation for quality delivery, where health, safety and compliance are central to project success.The successful candidate will take ownership of the company’s health & safety function, supporting both office and site operations, driving best practice and ensuring compliance across a varied portfolio of projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and manage the company’s Health & Safety function across office and site operations

    * Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety reviews

    * Ensure compliance with current HSE legislation and company procedures

    * Review RAMS, CPPs and site safety documentation

    * Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents, producing reports and corrective actions

    * Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, and awareness briefings

    * Support Project Managers and Site Teams with day-to-day H&S matters

    * Maintain and improve policies, procedures, and management systems

    * Monitor subcontractor compliance and site standards

    * Produce H&S reports and KPI data for senior management

    * Drive a proactive safety culture across the business

    Key Requirements

    * Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager / Advisor role within construction

    * Strong background in fit-out, refurbishment or interiors projects

    * Knowledge of current UK H&S legislation and CDM regulations

    * NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)

    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

    * Ability to work independently and manage multiple live sites

    Desirable

    * NEBOSH Diploma or working towards

    * IOSH Membership

    * Experience within commercial fit-out or main contracting environments

    * Experience implementing or managing ISO systems
