About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with additional needs. The school is dedicated to ensuring every pupil can reach their full potential, regardless of their starting point, within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
You will work as part of a skilled and supportive team, delivering tailored learning activities and supporting students with a range of needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver learning activities and lessons under the guidance of a qualified teacher
Support pupils with special educational needs, including communication and sensory needs
Implement strategies such as structured interventions and visual supports
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams
Essential Requirements
HLTA status or equivalent Level 4 qualification
Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and/or severe learning difficulties
Confidence in leading learning activities
Strong understanding of SEND strategies and interventions
Desirable Skills
Training in behaviour management approaches (e.g. Team Teach)
Experience with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within education settings
