How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Injection Moulding Tool Maintenance Technician
    * Days-Based Role - 6am - 6pm Monday to Thursday
    * Salary - Flexible depending on experience
    We’re supporting a well-established UK plastics manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality, consistency, and long-term stability. The business operates a busy injection moulding facility supplying technically demanding products, where tooling reliability and preventative maintenance are taken seriously not treated as an afterthought. As part of continued investment, they are now looking to appoint an Injection Moulding Tool Maintenance Technician to strengthen their tooling support function. This is a hands-on, practical role, suited to someone who understands that good tooling maintenance prevents bad production days.
    The Role
    Reporting into the Engineering / Tooling function, you’ll be responsible for maintaining injection mould tools to ensure safe operation, consistent quality, and maximum uptime across production.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    * Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of injection mould tools
    * Stripping, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling mould tools
    * Identifying wear, damage, and potential failure points before they become breakdowns
    * Diagnosing and resolving tooling-related production issues in support of the moulding team
    * Supporting tool changeovers to ensure smooth, stable start-ups
    * Working closely with setters, technicians, and production to maintain process stability
    * Accurately recording all maintenance activity within the site maintenance system
    * Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, tool care, and documentation
    * Working safely at all times in line with SSOWs, risk assessments, and site procedures
    This is not a desk role and not a firefighting-only position. You’ll be expected to work methodically, take ownership of tooling condition, and contribute to continuous improvement across the toolroom and shop floor.
    Skills & Experience
    Essential
    * Proven experience in injection mould tool maintenance, toolroom support, or a similar hands-on tooling role
    * Strong mechanical aptitude with a clear understanding of injection mould tool construction
    * Ability to strip and rebuild tools competently and safely
    * Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
    * A practical, reliable approach with the ability to work independently
    Desirable
    * Toolmaking or Mechanical Engineering qualification
    * Apprenticeship-trained background
    * Experience working with glass-filled, mineral-filled, or other high-wear materials
    * Exposure to high-volume or technically demanding moulding environments
    Personal Attributes
    * Self-motivated and trustworthy, comfortable working with minimal supervision
    * Methodical and detail-focused you fix the cause, not just the symptom
    * Calm under pressure and able to prioritise work sensibly
    * Takes pride in well-maintained tools and a tidy working environment
    What’s on Offer
    * Competitive salary, dependent on experience
    * Stable, long-term role within an established UK manufacturing business
    * Day-based working pattern
    * Ongoing training and development to broaden technical capability
    * A professional environment where preventative maintenance is genuinely valued
    The Bigger Picture
    This role suits someone who enjoys keeping tools right, preventing problems before they reach production, and being trusted to do the job properly. If you’re tired of reactive chaos and want a role where good tooling standards actually matter, this is worth a closer look. Get in touch with 5S Recruitment for a screening call
