How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A Technical Director / CTO is sought by a North East Electronics company to lead a multi-disciplined Engineering department.

    Your key focus will be to manage a department of highly skilled engineers and engineering managers encompassing electronic hardware/software, PCB & mechanical design engineers. You will responsible for delivery of technical solutions to customers and technical services/support to internal functions including sales and operations. You will also actively define and deliver the product roadmap and process improvements with the relevant managers.

    You will be expected to deliver product improvements, refining solutions where necessary for value enhancement, issue resolution and/or cost reduction, Ensure that necessary changes to engineering processes are implemented to improve efficiency, effectiveness and output quality.

    You will also support the commercial and business development functions to define technical solutions, cost and delivery and work with the manufacturing function to resolve product issues arising from returned, faulty and/or defective product whilst assisting procurement when the need for technical support arises in pre and post sales procurement activities.

    As part of the Senior Management Leadership Team, work collaboratively to resolve business priorities (including OpEx & CapEx budgets and KPIs) whilst providing leadership influence throughout the business, manage, mentor and develop direct reports (including appraisals), comprising of engineering managers and even some non-management individuals to best breed a culture of excellence and collaboration throughout the engineering department.

    KEY SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

    The ideal candidate will ideally have a Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and have a strong background in industrial Electronics or HV Electrical equipment manufacture. You will need demonstrable experience in managing skilled engineering teams and be experienced at driving change and culture management in technical organisations. od leadership skills coupled with a good understanding of technical tools such as Matlab Simulink / PLECS and AI capabilities within engineering design toolsets

    A strong leader by example you will be highly competent at personnel and team management and lead key technical steering and decision-making activities.

    This is a key role in the next stage of growth within an established Electrical / Electronics manufacturing business
