How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Engineer
    Derby 

    £40,000 - £45,000

    My client is a successful, independent engineering consultancy with over 30 years of industry experience, now looking to appoint a Civil Engineer to support continued growth across their UK offices.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established consultancy known for its collaborative culture, technical excellence, and strong project pipeline.

    The Role

    As a Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects across sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Producing detailed designs for roads and drainage (SuDS and foul systems)
    Preparing technical drawings and calculations using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software
    Supporting the delivery of projects from concept through to construction
    Liaising with clients, local authorities, and multidisciplinary teams
    Assisting with planning applications and technical approvals (S38, S278, S104)
    Attending project and design meetings where requiredWhat’s on Offer

    To be considered, you should have:

    A degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
    Experience working within a UK consultancy environment
    Strong knowledge of drainage and highway design
    Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage or similar
    Understanding of UK design standards and approvals process
