I am currently recruiting for a well-established engineering consultancy delivering complex product development programmes across multiple industries. As their project portfolio continues to grow, they’re looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to strengthen their capability across electronics and mechanical product delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on bridging R&D and manufacturing. You’ll play a key role in ensuring products move efficiently from prototype through to scalable production, while building and developing a high-performing team.
You will be responsible for:
Providing design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) input across engineering projects
Supporting the transition of complex electronic and mechanical products into production
Managing and coordinating external supply chain partners and contract manufacturers
Driving improvements in manufacturing processes, tools, and best practices
Supporting bids and proposals with manufacturing insight
Working closely with project managers and technical teams to deliver programmes
Assessing supplier performance and resolving quality or delivery issues
Leading and developing a small team of engineers and technical specialists
Required skills:
Strong experience in manufacturing engineering within an electronics or RF-led environment
Background working across the full product development lifecycle
Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes (e.g. SMT, PCB assemblies)
Experience managing suppliers and contract manufacturers
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
You’ll be working out of their South Cambridge office, on a hybrid basis (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH). This role will also include some occasional travel (once a month) to visit customer sites. The salary on offer for this role is up to £70,000 (DOE), plus benefits.
