How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    R Elliott Associates Ltd is a civil and structural engineering company based in the New Forest which offers a wide range of services including civil and structural engineering in both domestic and commercial sectors, designing new developments, SIPS designs, domestic extensions, and carrying out structural surveys.     Job Description

    We are now looking for a junior civil/structural engineer with some experience to join us to work on structural projects, although graduates may also be considered.

    Examples of tasks that may be undertaken by the successful candidate:

    * Involvement in projects of varying scale from conception through to completion;

    * Assessing and understanding project requirements;

    * Undertaking design across a number of disciplines;

    * Agreeing timescales and specifications with clients and managers;

    * Preparation of documents and reports;

    * Working towards professional status and maintaining CPD training;

    Candidate specification

    The successful candidate should have the following:

    * Clear and efficient verbal and written communication;

    * Confident personality with the ability to liaise with clients and contractors;

    * Ability to use software such as AutoCad, Masterseries, TEDDS, etc;

    * Ability to use Microsoft Office to produce project related documents;

    * Commitment to professional excellence and personal development;

    * A Masters degree in civil/structural engineering is preferred, BEng may be acceptable;

    * The ability to be adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a successful close-knit team;

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently build and maintain external and internal relationships;

    * Strong attention to detail and demonstrate accurate work;

    * Flexible approach to work, and ability to prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines;

    * The ability to produce plans, write reports to support planning applications, design calculations and construction drawings;

    * Be able to interact with fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects and interfacing and cooperating accordingly;
