The Role
We are seeking a Database Developer to join a small Agile team working across both new and existing data processing systems.
This is a hands-on role combining SQL development, data investigation, and production support. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to diagnose issues, implement fixes, and improve the reliability and performance of our data platforms.
Typical split:
* ~60% development and optimisation
* ~30% data investigation and support
* ~10% tooling and process improvement
Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL-based data processing solutions
* Investigate and resolve data issues raised by internal users
* Perform data validation, cleansing, and correction across large datasets
* Troubleshoot production issues and deploy fixes
* Improve performance of queries, transformations, and database structures
* Contribute to ongoing improvements in data pipelines and internal tooling
Skills and Experience
Required:
* 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server
* Strong T-SQL skills (query writing, performance tuning, indexing)
* Experience with Azure SQL Database
* Experience handling structured data (CSV, XML)
* Experience using Git for source control
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly with data anomalies
Desirable:
* Experience working in Azure environments (e.g. storage, data services)
* Familiarity with CI/CD or DevOps practices
* PowerShell or scripting experience
* Experience working in Agile teams
* Exposure to financial or regulatory data
