How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Mercia Park, Swadlincote
Salary: £36,360.00 per annum plus 30 days holiday (including bank holidays), pension, bonus, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits including cycle to work scheme

    About the Role
You will take Facilities Maintenance to the next level for operations and overall efficiency. This presents an outstanding opportunity for a high-calibre, multi-skilled Facilities Maintenance Engineer or someone with a trade background to transfer knowledge and experience from other or similar previous roles.

As part of your key responsibilities, you’ll:

Respond to, escalate, record, and complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Health and Safety policies and procedures across the Mercia campus (3 x warehouses).
Carry out first fix repairs to building services and maintain all plant and machinery, including internal office fixtures and fittings.
Perform basic fault finding on electrical, mechanical, and packaging equipment and machines, using logical steps to resolve issues when under pressure.
Specify and order materials, purchased parts, and machinery, and assist the Senior Facilities Manager in identifying essential and critical spares stocks.
Carry out basic civil, carpentry, and plumbing works, as well as small project installations that may involve both electrical and maintenance works.
Carry out racking repairs and pallet recoveries of fallen pallets of stock at height, working in conjunction with operational needs.
    About You
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!

You are a multi-skilled, time-served tradesperson with a hands-on / can-do attitude, and computer literate (Microsoft Office and Google applications).
You have maintenance experience with demonstrated ability in problem solving and fault finding; knowledge of mechanical, compressed air systems, and electrical plant is an advantage.
You are a great team player and good communicator, able to work closely with and support fellow colleagues and operational teams in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment.
You demonstrate high accountability, use your own initiative for critical decision making and problem solving, and are committed to maintaining high standards of work and housekeeping.
You are physically capable of performing the role, including working at height as part of normal day-to-day duties.
FLT and MEWP driving licenses are preferred but not essential (training provided), along with basic mechanical and electrical experience; 18th Edition is advantageous but not essential.
Working knowledge of the latest regulatory and statutory regulations, such as PUWER / LOLER, and experience in racking repairs/inspection is desirable but not essential.
