How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role Overview

    Infinitive Resources are seeking a commercially driven and relationship-focused Sales Manager to lead the sales activity across the UK rail sector.

    The role is responsible for generating sustainable revenue growth, expanding key client relationships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting bid conversion across our maintenance and engineering services portfolio.

    This is a commercial role, requiring a proactive, hands-on individual who can operate strategically while remaining close to delivery and client needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and execute a structured sales strategy aligned with clients growth objectives.

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities within the UK rail market.

    * Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline across target clients.

    * Support early-stage client engagement prior to formal tender release.

    * Increase repeat business and framework utilisation.

    Client Relationship Management

    * Freight, Passenger and rail infrastructure customers as well as exploring and penetrating non rail markets

    * Infrastructure client & framework managers

    * Engineering leads and commercial managers

    * Help position the client as a trusted, technically credible delivery partner.

    * Maintain regular client engagement and account planning.

    Bid & Tender Support

    * Support go/no-go discussions with senior leadership.

    * Support bid strategy and win themes.

    * Contribute to commercial positioning and pricing strategy.

    * Ensure alignment between client expectations and engineering capability.

    * Monitor UK rail funding cycles and market trends.

    * Track competitor positioning and framework opportunities.

    * Identify emerging opportunities (e.g., renewals, enhancements, digital engineering asset management).

    Key Accountabilities

    * Revenue growth against agreed annual targets.

    * Pipeline value and conversion rate.

    * Framework penetration and repeat business.

    * Margin quality of secured work.

    * Strength and sustainability of key client relationships.

    Candidate Profile

    * Proven sales or business development experience within the UK rail sector.

    * Demonstrable success winning engineering or infrastructure services contracts.

    * Strong understanding of rail procurement routes

    Skills & Competencies

    * Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.

    * Credible communicator at senior client level.

    * Strategic thinker with tactical execution capability.

    * Strong stakeholder management skills.

    * Comfortable operating autonomously with clear accountability
