The Role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to assist pupils throughout the school day. Many students require 1:1 or small group support to help them engage in learning, communication development, and structured daily routines.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
Supporting personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs and abilities
Encouraging the development of communication, social skills, and independence
Assisting with sensory activities and structured routines
Supporting positive behaviour and classroom engagement
Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff to ensure consistent pupil support
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (autism or learning disabilities is highly desirable)
A patient, caring, and compassionate approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to follow structured routines and adapt to individual needs
Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needsApplicants from backgrounds in education, care, support work, early years, youth work, or psychology are strongly encouraged to apply.
