Job description
We are seeking a Mechanical Pipefitter to assist us with our MGPS (Medical Gas Pipeline Systems) planning, installation and testing service to be based in the south East region.
Key duties
* Review all quotations and site information relating to the scheme of works prior to starting on site
* Pre-installation survey. Survey work would normally have been carried out by others in preparing the quotation. The installation engineer is expected to familiarise him/herself with the scheme proposals, the site and any operating constraints or site-specific requirements before commencement of the work.
* Job-specific materials requisition.
* Client and/or main contractor liaison.
* Management and supervision of subordinate staff, where applicable.
* First fix installation, to agreed standards and specification and in conformity with the requirements of HTM 02-01.
* Second fix installation, to agreed standards and specification.
* Testing, commissioning and certification.
* Completion and timely submission of all records and documentation.
Additionally:
* Maintenance of company van stocks and consumable supplies.
* Safety, security and condition of all tools, equipment and resources.
* Site maintenance and cleanliness – the site is to be kept clean and tidy and free of all waste materials, packaging etc at all times. Ensure that, at the end of each work period, the site is left in a safe and secure condition.
* Comply with all parking restrictions, both on and off site.
* Bring any matters relating to the condition or maintenance of the vehicle to the Contracts Manager’s attention as soon as they become evident.
* Report any accidents immediately should they occur.
* Dispose of any waste materials in accordance with company policy.
* Attend meetings as might reasonably be required.
* Conduct yourself at all times in a manner that would reflect well on you and on the company. This includes, but is not limited to, your appearance; the way you communicate both verbally and in writing; your attitude and approach to your work; your timeliness and your attention to detail.
Experience required
We require someone with NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant subject(s) with a portfolio of evidence to support the assessment of their competence in key skill areas. Competent Person (MGPS) status will be an advantage.
To be successful in this role, previous practical experience in an installation environment where the quality, reliability and performance of the installed systems are of paramount importance is essential.
Our preference would be for those with previous MGPS experience, but training will be provided for those whose skillset might not meet with our precise requirements and/or whose experience might have been gained in other industry settings. Typical examples of alternative experience might include heating and ventilation; refrigeration and air-conditioning; public utilities; science & laboratories; oil & gases installation; food processing; hospital engineering or industrial plant installation.
