How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Traffic Management Operative LANTRA M5 ticket is an absolute essential for this role. Please ONLY Apply if you have this qualification.


    About the Role:

    As a Traffic Management Operative at Whites, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping road users, pedestrians, and workforce safe during temporary works. You’ll be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing traffic management systems in line with Lantra standards and Whites’ operational procedures.

    This is a hands-on, physical role that requires attention to detail, good communication, and a commitment to safety. No two days are the same-you’ll work across a variety of sites, environments, and shift patterns.


    Your Responsibilities:

    • Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management systems, including multi-way traffic control, diversions, lane closures, and pedestrian management
    • Deploy cones, signs, frames, sandbags, lights, barriers, and other equipment safely and correctly
    • Monitor traffic flow and adjust setups as conditions change
    • Carry out on-site checks, basic risk assessments, and report issues promptly
    • Communicate clearly with site teams, the public, and colleagues
    • Maintain accurate records where required
    • Represent Whites professionally at all times

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering a safe, well-organised service.


    What We’re Looking For (Essential)

    • Full UK driving licence
    • Strong understanding of temporary traffic management safety principles
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
    • A reliable, punctual, and safety-driven approach

    • Use of your own van for travel to and from site (a Whites van may be available for the right person).
