How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    aLyne Ecology Ltd. Is a dedicated team of ecological consultants specializing in surveys for protected species and habitats to support planning applications. Our experts are licensed to conduct surveys for great crested newts, bats, and dormice, and can assist in obtaining European Protected Species Licences from Natural England. As a small and specialized company, we are committed to delivering high-quality ecological consultancy services. Our work helps clients navigate environmental regulations efficiently and responsibly.

    Role Description

    This is a full-time, on-site role located in Dorking for a skilled and proactive Ecologist. The Ecologist will conduct field surveys for protected species and habitats, complete ecological assessments, and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs). Additional responsibilities include preparing professional reports, assisting in securing necessary permits, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements. Collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders is a key part of the role.

    Qualifications
    • Experience and knowledge in conducting wildlife surveys and assessments
    • Strong report writing skills and ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate documents
    • Field work experience, with a focus on protected species and habitat surveys
    • Proficiency in botany and plant identification
    • Knowledge and experience in Environmental Impact Assessments
    • A recognized degree or qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
    • Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects
    • Holding a valid driver’s license is essential
    • Desirable qualifications include licenses for protected species surveys and experience applying for European Protected Species Licences
