How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mon-Fri: 8am-4:30pm - flexible on start finish times We have a fantastic, senior level opportunity with one of our long-standing clients; Simmtronic are an established industry leader who design and supply high-performance lighting control systems for intelligent commercial spaces.

    Based out of their recently refurbished HQ in Hoddesdon, you’ll be joining a multi-million pounds business with a strong foothold in the market, where you will run the technical engineering department, acting as the main point of expertise and interface across multiple teams.

    Role breakdown
    Reporting into the technical director, you’ll work alongside the senior leadership team to drive forward electronic product development, with not only a strong hands-on competence, but the ability to run, motivate and improve team members. You’ll be given freedom to implement your own processes, ideas and personality in this role, which is very much seen as a first of it’s kind for the team.

    Responsibilities:

    Run and support hoddesdon technical team
    Provide directions on complex issues across products and projects
    Oversee EMC testing and electronic product development
    Effective technical reports and documentation
    Ensure clear communication between multiple teamsWhat are we looking for?

    Electrical/electronic engineering background (technical qualifications and time served, ideally 10 years +)
    Prior experience leading engineering departments, managing multiple stakeholders and acting as an interface between different teams across businesses
    Comfortable with communication protocols, EMC testing, analog and digital circuitry and general electronic product development  
    Personality: Strong communicator and well organized. Comfortable managing multiple teams and workload
    Nice to have: Exposure to the lighting controls industry
