How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Bristol (On-site)

Are you a Process or Chemical Engineer looking to take a hands-on role in scaling breakthrough technology from lab to pilot and beyond whilst progressing your career?

This is a rare opportunity to join a venture-backed climate tech company developing innovative chemical recycling processes to recover high-value carbon fibre for use across aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors.

This company recently received a large amount of funding and is entering an exciting scale-up phase. You'll be at the heart of turning proven lab chemistry into real-world industrial processes.

This role focuses on scaling a lab-developed chemical process up to pilot level by designing and running structured experiments, analysing results, and turning them into practical process decisions. It involves hands-on work with pilot plant operations, solving scale-up challenges such as heat and mass transfer, and improving process performance through root cause analysis.

    The Role
You will play a key role in developing and scaling a novel chemical process, working across lab and pilot plant environments.

Design and run structured experimental programmes
Translate lab-scale chemistry into pilot-scale processes
Analyse process data and optimise performance
Investigate scale-up challenges (heat transfer, kinetics, mixing, etc.)
Support pilot plant operations and commissioning
Produce technical documentation (SOPs, reports, process data)This is a highly practical, hands-on role where you'll be solving real engineering challenges, not just theoretical work.

    The Person

Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
Strong understanding of reaction engineering, unit operations, and mass/energy balances
Experience in process development or scale-up
Hands-on lab or pilot plant experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsRise Technical Recruitment Ltd acts an employment agency for permanent roles and an employment business for temporary roles.

The salary advertised is the bracket available for this position. The actual salary paid will be dependent on your level of experience, qualifications and skill set and will be decided by our client, the employer. Rise are not responsible or liable for any hiring decisions made by the end client.

We are an equal opportunities company and welcome applications from all suitable candidates
