Interim Deputy Company Secretary
Location: Northwest England / hybrid
Duration: 3–6 months (could be extended)
Day Rate: £400-450 per day
A confidential opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Deputy Company Secretary to join a sophisticated, PE-backed business with PLC-quality governance expectations. This is a broad and hands-on role, supporting a busy legal and company secretarial team during a period of key board activity and organisational change.
The role will involve:
- Supporting Board, committee, and shareholder meetings.
- Preparing board packs, attending meetings, taking minutes, and tracking actions.
- Managing statutory compliance and entity administration across approximately 50 group companies.
- Supporting international entities, including Germany and France.
- Preparing and filing Companies House documentation.
- Assisting with governance paperwork and quasi-corporate matters, including incentive arrangements.
What we are looking for:
- Strong company secretarial, legal, governance, or accountancy background.
- Experience in listed, PE-backed, or large group environments preferred.
- Confident handling board-level governance and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of written accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while also fitting into an established team.
- A genuine contractor mindset and flexibility around travel and in-person meetings.
Working pattern:
- Hybrid working, typically a couple of days per week in the office (Thursday mandated day)
- Key board meetings will require in-person attendance, usually with around one month’s notice.
