Rate: approx. PAYE GBP 250 per day, Umbrella GBP 343.91 per day
Role Purpose
The Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering engineering solutions for land-based systems, including vehicles, tactical support equipment, integrated mission systems, and deployable infrastructure.
This role supports the full engineering lifecycle, ensuring technical compliance while contributing to successful delivery against budget, schedule, and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
Support the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering work packages
Ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Track engineering hours and report financial performance
Technical Development & Compliance
Analyse and resolve design challenges to meet customer and regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance with engineering governance, quality standards, and stage-gate processes
Support configuration and change management activities
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Provide technical support across engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams
Collaborate to ensure effective integration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to meet technical specifications
System Integration & Testing
Support system integration, testing, trials, and commissioning activities
Produce technical calculations and documentation for verification and procurement
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare engineering documentation for design, governance, and safety reviews
Support procurement and subcontracting with technical documentation
Report on engineering progress in line with project objectives
Mentorship & Continuous Improvement
Support and mentor junior engineers
Promote health, safety, environmental, and quality best practices
Drive continuous improvement in processes and solutions
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and certification requirements

Education & Qualifications
Degree in Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship with relevant experience (essential)
Progress towards Chartered status or professional accreditation (desirable)
