How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Purchasing and Planning Manager to join their team based in Eastbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior professional with a strong background in advanced manufacturing to play a key role in driving operational excellence and supporting business growth.

    This position is ideal for someone who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, ensuring efficient production planning, purchasing, and scheduling within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

    Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience 

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, driving performance and accountability
    Oversee production planning, purchasing, and scheduling functions
    Ensure on-time delivery targets are met for both customers and suppliers
    Develop and implement scalable processes to support business growth
    Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across operations
    Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Sales teams
    Contribute to strategic decision-making with operational and commercial insight
    Travel to client meetings (occasional) 

    Skills, Experience, and Requirements:

    Minimum 10 years’ experience in purchasing and planning within a low volume, high complexity manufacturing environment
    At least 5 years in a leadership or management role
    Strong track record in production planning and procurement
    Excellent organisational, communication, and decision-making skills
    Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
    Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies
    Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies
    Degree educated or qualified by experience
